Program Details

Proudly preparing the next generation of secondary teachers in Papua New Guinea and beyond with our Bachelor of Education (Secondary Teaching) – B.Ed.

The Bachelor of Education (BEd) is a four-year full-time degree designed to prepare you to become a qualified science secondary school teacher in Papua New Guinea. The program provides a strong foundation in education theory, teaching practice, science subject content, and Christian values. Each year is broken into two semesters so you will complete 8 semesters over the 4 years of study.

Program Structure

Year 1: Foundation Year

In your first year, all courses are compulsory. You’ll build essential skills in communication, teaching, mathematics, science, and values formation.

Year 2: Begin Your Specialisation

From Year 2, you choose a major and a minor subject in Mathematics, Physics, Biology, or Chemistry.

  • Major = 2 courses per semester in a subject area (4 for the full year)
  • Minor = 1 subject per semester (2 for the full year)

You’ll also complete education, religious and academic skill courses and participate in weekly school-based experience.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 Certificate with:
    • C or better in English
    • B or C in Maths B and Math A respectively
    • C in Biology, Physics or Chemistry
  • OR qualify under the College’s General Admissions Policy

Provisional admission may be granted in special circumstances.
